Greetings for Week Seven

Hello Everyone,

On this video, I talk about this week's readings-
-I also address your final examination, the special presentations, and this week's reading.  Make sure to listen carefully to the video, for the information will help you study well for the final examination.

In addition to a greeting and a quiz review, you will also find here a video about the first parts of a novel from New Zealand by Patricia Grace, author of "And So I Go."

Take a look at the videos over Whale Rider: Part One and Part Two, a novel from New Zealand I used these past few years. You will not be asked on a quiz about this novel that got turned into a fine film.

Greetings for Week Seven; pay no attention to dates mentioned, for the video comes from last year:

Quiz Seven Quiz Review:

Potiki Part One, a brief discussion of the novel and some important areas of focus:

Whale Rider Part One

Greetings One and All,

This brief--30 minutes--video covers the first dozen or so chapters of Whale Rider.

I attempt here to touch on essential themes the novel addresses, from the role of the mythic voice to contemporary challenges the Maori face.

The discussion should help with the discussion thread over the novel and with those who decide to write about the novel for the final examination.

Go well, Bill
